47 gets AFUED alumni award of excellence

The Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo Alumni Association, has conferred award of excellence on forty-seven members of the body.

The ceremony, which held on Saturday 25 May, 2024, was part of programme of events, organised to mark 60th year diamond anniversary of the institution, named after a foremost educationalist, and an indigene of Ondo Community, Canon Moses Craig Adeyemi.

The recipients of the award included, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi; Timi of Ede, His Royal Majesty Oba Munirudeen Lawal; Ambassador Godson Echegile (OFR); Former Provost, Adeyemi College of Education, Prof. Olukoya Ogen and Barrister Adebayo Adenipekun (SAN).

Others were Rt. Rev’d Samuel Olakunle Egbebunmi; Acting DVC AFUED, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Lt. Col. DVB Akintayo, DCP Ojomo Francis Iwayemi and Mr. Akinboni Koleola Benson.

Also among the 47 award recipients were Mr. Ogunwusi Bamidele Segun; Dr. Olusegun Jegede; Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye; Dr. Sikiru Akinyele Ahmed and Pastor Adekunle Adeyinka.

Also part of the recipients were Chief (Mrs.) Akinseloyin Adeola Anne; Dr. Bayo Ilawole; Barr. Sarafa Omodele Okeowo; Prince Adegbite Mustapha Adewumi; Mr. Emmanuel Alayo and Dr. Christian Emeruwa.

Other alumni members who also got the award included Chief Solomon. O Arenyeka (JP); Mrs. Catherine Olubukunola Olotu; Sir Adegoke A. Arimoro; Dr. Folorunso Ojo Balogun; Pastor (Dr) Olatunde Oladokun(JP) and Dr. Olugbamigbe Samuel Yemi.
The award recipients also included Mrs. Mary Olufunke Oni; Mrs. Adebimpe Adejumobi Apatira; Dr. Wahab Ademola Azeez; Mr. Olusola Jacob Oni; Chief David Olugbade Oyewole (JP), Revd. Joel Olusanjo Dada; Dame Yetunde Adefolahan Odejayi and Mrs. Nihinlola Adetokunbo Olapade.

Others were Awesome Clifford Adebisi; Dr. (Mrs) Bolari Onigbogi; Dr. Adepoju Adetokunbo Abayomi; Mrs. Hidayat Adenike Iyanda; Mr. Albert Ijiettemo; Mr. Aderinoye Festus Brown, and Chief Fola Fadojutimi.

The remaining award recepients were Otunba Akinsiku Olusola; Dr. Abayomi Oluyemi; Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Oresile; Mr. Debo Adenitan and Mrs. Bolajoko Falora.

In a message delivered by the Executive Governor Ondo State, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa before the commencement of the award conferment ceremony, he congratulated management of the institution for the celebration of Diamond jubilee and lauded them for contributions made to educational development in the country.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Laolu Akindolire, the Ondo State number one citizen, gave assurance that his administration would continue to partner with the institution, in the task of elevating education to greater height.

The governor used the occasion to highlight the achievements recorded by his administration in education, and pledged to continue to implement programmes that would improve the lots of citizens of the state.

Similarly in his brief remarks, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, AFUED, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, thanked the Ondo State Governor for identifying with the institution.

He used the occasion to enumerate achievements recorded in the university since his administration came on board, and congratulated the award winners, stating that the decision to honour them, was in recognition of their contributions to the development of the institution.

The climax of the event was the presentation of scholarship award to 10 outstanding students of the university. The beneficiaries are Oyetunji Ololade Esther; Akinlabi Jacob, Opeoluwa Yusuf Akinrele; Ibrahim Bayonle Sheriff and Olawoye Dorcas.

Others were, Alabi Jumoke Ruth, Omotoso Olatide Omokolade, Balogun Busuyi Alex and Akinpelumi Folasade.
