It was a cannival like ceremony on Thursday, the 27th of July, 2023 on the campus of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo as dignitaries throng the Alumni Events Centre, the venue of the inauguration of Ultra Modern Guest House.
The project which was being embarked upon by the Alumni Association of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, was described as massive by dignitaries that graced the event.
Why performing the turning of the Sod and laying of foundation for the project, the provost of the college, Dr S.A Akintunde, who doubles as chief host at the event, described the project as massive and monumental which would go a long way in the history of AFUED Alumni in the university. While commenting the president of the association for the laudable project, Dr Akintunde appreciated God for allowing this to happen during his tenure.
He used the opportunity to assure the College community that a Vice Chancellor will soon be appointed for the take off of the college as a full fledged university as the college had paid host to various committees from the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, National University Commission and TETFUND for physical assessment.
In his words, the president of the Alumni Association of Federal University of Education, Ondo, Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade reiterated the resolve of the Executives of the association to leave some legacies that would stand the test of time and beneficial to the incoming generations. Dr Olowogboyega used the opportunity to launch a working document tagged “Alumni Advisory Circular” for all the branches of the Association.
Why welcoming dignitaries to the event, the chairman of the Building Committee who is also the vice president of the Alumni Association, Dr Olusegun Owolewa, briefed the guests at the event about the motives behind the idea of building the Ultra Modern Guest House. Dr Owolewa hinted that the Guest House if completed, will have 21 rooms, a lounge, bar, restaurant, a gym and a pool.
Some of the dignitaries at the event who are also members of the association delivered goodwill messages. They include; His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun III, The Aragbiji of Iragbiji in Boripe local government of Osun State, Mr Stephen Awosika, Mrs Adetola Adeyemi and COEASU Chairman of the college.
The Association equally used the occasion to launch its website which according to the National Auditor of the association, Prince Mustapha Adegbite, was to enable the association to project its activities to the whole world. Adegbite highlighted some of the features of the website and that the website is now actively linked with the following social media handles for easy accessibility by users
