A brief history of the Association

The origin of an organized body to be called the Alumni Association of Adeyemi College can be traced to 1991 during the tenure of Dr. Phebean Fayemi as Provost of the College. Before this time, various groups and sets have gathered themselves but they never operated as an organized body until 1991 when the need for the Alumni Association came primarily as a result of the students’ riots of April 1990 which led to a protracted closure of the College. As one of the means of intervening in the student’s management crises, the Federal Government’s panel that was set up to investigate the 1990 crisis recommended that the Alumni of the College should be organized and facilitated by the College to serve as one of the organs that would see to the smooth running of the College. As a result, steps were initiated to set an organized body to be called the Alumni Association of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

Furthermore, the Decree that established the College of Education Governing Councils gave this position its legal backing by recommending a representative of the Alumni on the Council of each College of Education in Nigeria. Since then, as expected, having been in the business of training students at the tertiary education for more than five decades now, Adeyemi College now Adeyemi Federal University of Education has produced a number of Alumni that have distinguished themselves at different spheres of the Nigerian social, political, economic and educational sectors.

The present National Executive Council of the Alumni Association was inaugurated at a National Convention held in February 11, 2023 and it is made up of the following distinguished alumni members.
