The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR, Jilo III, has reiterated the importance of Adeyemi Federal University of Education to the people of the community.
Oba Kiladejo, made the statement on Wednesday July 16, 2025, when he received Principal Officers of the Institution, accompanied by the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bayode Popoola, who paid courtesy visit to his palace at Enuowa, Ondo City, Ondo State.
Describing the appointment of Prof. Popoola as divine, the royal father congratulated him, and gave assurance of his support and that of people of Ondo community.
His words: “We thank God for a day like this, It is the Almighty God that made you the Vice-chancellor. The University is very important to Ondo, we are very passionate about it, we will give you all the needed support to paddle the affairs of the school,” the royal father remarked.
Meanwhile, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, Prof. Samuel Akintunde, has assured, Prof. Bayode Popoola of full support of Council and Management as he assumed leadership of the University.
Prof. Akintunde spoke while receiving the incoming Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bayode Popoola, who came on courtesy and familiarization visit to the institution on Wednesday 16 July, 2025.
Prof Akintunde while presenting Prof Bayode Popoola before the leadership of various workers’ unions in the institution, described him as an experience administrator, who would bring his wealth of experience to bear for the development of the University.
He lauded the Union leaders for their contributions to the institution, and appealed to them to support the new administration, in its resolves at elevating the institution to greater height.
Prof. Akintunde also paid glowing tributes to the union leaders, describing them as “strong idealists and highly intelligent people”, stating that the cooperation and support given to him, during the period of stewardship as the head of the institution, was responsible for the development and growth recorded in the University.
Responding, the incoming Vice-chancellor, Prof. Bayode Popoola expressed appreciation for warmth reception given to him. He thanked the University Management, Members of Governing Council and leadership of all workers union in the institution for exhibiting fairness and patriotism, during the Vice-Chancellor selection process.
He expressed his desire to contribute his best to the development of the University saying “our dream is to build this place to become a pride of Africa, the formula we will all embrace is transparency, accountability, fairness and integrity”, he remarked.
The event featured presentation of speeches by heads of various Workers Unions in the University which included Dr. Adepoju Adetokunbo Abayomi, COEASU; Mr. Cletus Oguayo, SSANU; Mr. Gbadamosi Lasisi, Acting Chairman, NAAT and Mrs. Obadofin C. J, NASU.
Meanwhile, the familiarization visit of the incoming Vice-chancellor, Prof. Bayode Popoola took him to various locations within the University campus. Places visited included the University Health Centre, Aluta Market, New School gate, New Faculty of Education building, Vocational and Technical Education department, staff quarters among others.
Important dignitaries who graced the occasion included all the Principal Officers of the University: Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Akintunde; Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Olufemi Olajuyigbe; Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Acting Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin and Acting Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) Adeola Afolabi.
Also present were Chairman of Academic and Non- Academic Staff, which included COEASU, NASU, SSANU and NAAT.
Others were Deans, Directors, Heads of Directorates, Divisions and Units as well as several Senior Officials from various departments in the University.
